Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) in Chinese Medicine

The aim of this programme is to equip students with the knowledge in (1) authentication, identification, quality analysis, quality control and patenting of Chinese medicines (CMs); (2) the new dosage-form design of modern Chinese medicinal products; (3) fundamental skills in research and development of Chinese medicinal products; and (4) the regulation and management of the pharmaceutical industry in Hong Kong.

The programme encompasses basic sciences, theories of Chinese medicine and Western pharmacy, pharmaceutical science of Chinese Materia Medica and practicum training. During the four-year of studies, students are required to complete a 15-week practicum, and carry out an Honours Project before graduation.

Career opportunities of our graduates include quality control and manufacturing, business management, new product development and trading of Chinese medicines. Graduates may also take on further studies by applying for research in Chinese medicines at postgraduate level.
