Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Language and Literature

The English Language and Literature Programme seeks to provide:

  1. A rigorous and rewarding educational experience for its students, including strengthening their English language proficiency and their ability to think and work critically, independently, and creatively;
  2. A foundation of knowledge in literature and language that enables students to learn a variety of new approaches and methodologies in the areas of Literary and Comparative Studies and Language and Communication Studies; and
  3. Exposure to the canon and traditions of English literature and language as an enduring legacy for the culture and community of Hong Kong.

The structure of the curriculum is as follows:

If students would like to graduate under a specific concentration*, they are required to complete at least six major elective courses under the student's chosen concentration (up to the regular maximum of eight total elective courses required for graduation).
