Master of Science in Finance (FinTech and Financial Analytics)

With the rise of disruptive technologies and the new generation of Big Data and FinTech, concepts of money, payments, identity, and security need to be looked at through a new lens. This inter-disciplinary programme taught by both Finance and Management Information Systems faculty, will widen and deepen students’ understanding of the rapidly changing landscape and the impact of new technologies on traditional finance models. Students will be empowered with knowledge in Finance, FinTech, Financial Analytics, Machine Learning, Financial Computing, Textual Analysis, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, Algorithmic Trading, Financial Fraud, and Regulatory Compliance. They will be well-prepared for the fast-growing demand of today’s data-driven economy, and will be able to take the Financial Industry to the next level.
This programme provides flexibility with the options of completing the programme in one-year full-time mode or two-year part-time mode. It offers fourteen courses that provide both in-depth knowledge and broad perspectives of the applications of FinTech and Financial Analytical tools to enable students to meet the continuing challenges in the rapidly transforming financial world. Students are required to complete eight core courses (24 units) and two elective courses (6 units) out of six electives for graduation. All courses are offered by the Department of Finance and Decision Sciences.
All courses in the programme carry equal weight. Students must pass all courses and achieve an overall cGPA of 2.50 or above in order to be awarded the Master of Science in Finance (FinTech and Financial Analytics).
