Minor Programme in Theatre Studies

Students seeking to pursue the study of a minor programme would need to fulfil 15 units of courses specified by the offering department/programme, and note that no registration priority will be given to enrolment in minor courses.  Upon completion of the 15 units required for the minor programmes, students should apply to the Academic Registry for approval.

The structure of the curriculum is as follows:

Requirements

  HUMN2027 Introduction to the Art of Theatre 3 units
     
II. Elective Courses 12 units
  Student are required to take four of the following courses, of which at least one must be at Level 3 or above.  Students have to take two courses from Elective Courses (A) (either Group 1 or Group 2) so that they can specialise either in theory or practice.  For the remaining two courses, students have to take one course from Elective Courses (A) (either Group 1 or Group 2), and one course from Elective Courses (B):

* CHIL3056 Special Topics in Chinese Arts and Chinese Literature can only count for the Minor in Theatre Studies if a playwright or dramatic topic is covered.

* This course will replace TRAN3017 Drama Translation in the future.

Progression:

Students taking Theatre Studies as a Minor are strongly advised to take HUMN2027 Introduction to the Art of Theatre as the foundation course first before they progress to the elective component (four other courses from the list).
