Minor Programme in Business (For Non-BBA Students)

Students seeking to pursue the study of a minor programme would need to fulfil 15 units of courses specified by the offering department/programme, and note that no registration priority will be given to enrolment in minor courses. Upon completion of the 15 units required for the minor programmes, students should apply to the Academic Registry for approval.

The structure of the curriculum is as follows:

  ACCT1005 Principles of Accounting I 3 units
  ECON1007 Basic Economic Principles 3 units
  FINE1005 Financial Planning and Investment Analysis 3 units
     
III. Elective Course II 3 units
  BUSI2005 Organizational Behaviour 3 units
  ISEM2005 Management Information Systems 3 units
  MKTG2005 Marketing Management 3 units
     
IV. Elective Course III* 6 units
  Any two courses listed in the minor programmes in ACCT, APECON, ENTP, FIN, HRM, ISEM, and MKT or the following courses:
  ACCT3017 Entrepreneurial Decisions and Compliance 3 units
  BUSI2016 Entrepreneurship and New Venture 3 units
  BUSI3045 Global Entrepreneurship 3 units
  BUSI4015 Corporate Entrepreneurship 3 units
  BUSI4016 Seminar in Entrepreneurship 3 units
  FINE3025 Entrepreneurial Finance 3 units
  MKTG3045 Entrepreneurial Marketing 3 units

Remarks:

  1. Students must take at least three Level II or above courses in which one must be Level III or above course.
  2. Students can take a maximum of 6 units of courses with the same course code of ACCT, ECON, ENTP, FINE, HRMN, ISEM or MKTG (except BUSI).
  3. Students who have taken any of the above courses in their major programme have to take additional elective course(s) to fulfil the minor programme requirement.

* Students majoring in BSSc China Studies who have taken CHSE1005 Essentials of Economics are required to take either ACCT1005 or FINE1005 to satisfy the requirement for “Elective course I”.
