Bachelor of Nursing (Honours)
Programme Director: To be confirmed
The programme aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are essential to performing as competent Registered Nurses in a wide range of healthcare settings and as potential leaders with extended professional roles. In Hong Kong, students can only register as practising nurses by completing a programme accredited by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong (NCHK). Thus the programme adheres to the prescribed structure set by NCHK when the espoused objective of this new programme is to provide a comprehensive and holistic education programme for the students so that they will be equipped with the necessary up-to-date knowledge useful for their daily work in helping individual patients to reach their greatest healing potential.
On successful completion of the Programme, students should be able:
- To assess and evaluate clients’ needs from biological, behavioural, psycho-social and spiritual perspectives to formulate safe, holistic, managed, ethical and vocational care;
- To implement appropriate nursing care plans that promote healthy living and assist recovery from illness for individuals, family units and the community;
- To synthesize and apply research findings to improve nursing practice;
- To communicate with effective interpersonal skills with clients/patients, their families and members of the employing organizations; and
- To reflect their professional practices as Registered Nurses for continuous self-improvement in the spirit of lifelong learning.
