Bachelor of Chinese Medicine and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biomedical Science

Programme Director: Prof LI, Min

The aim of this double-degree programme is to equip students with a comprehensive and practical understanding of Chinese medicine. The ultimate goal is to train a new generation of Chinese medicine practitioners with the ability to integrate modern science and technology with Chinese medicine principles on a scientific basis for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

This is a 6-year full-time double degree programme, with a 12-month practicum followed by a 4-month specialized clinical internship, and an Honours Project. The curriculum of the programme encompasses extensive courses in Chinese medicine as well as courses in biomedical and clinical Western medicine.

The major career prospect for our graduates is to become Chinese medicine practitioners. Some graduates may go into postgraduate studies and pursue research careers in local and overseas institutions, and a small proportion of graduates may seek out careers in education, administration, regulatory sectors or trading in Chinese medicine.

The structure of the curriculum is as follows:

I) Major Courses 200 units
II) Honours Project 6 units
III) General Education 38 units
    244 units
