Master of Arts in Communication

Programme Director:  Prof GUO, Steve Z S

The MA in Communication is a coursework-based programme designed for one-year full time and two-year part time students. The programme approaches communication at the individual, organizational and societal levels with a focus on communication and new media in the Greater China Region. Attention is also paid to the impact of changing media technologies.

The MA in Communication aims to:

  1. train communication leaders and cultivate the ability to systematically evaluate communication and media problems;
  2. develop conceptual and analytical skills in applying advanced communication knowledge in students’ current or future careers; and
  3. educate individuals in new substantive areas in the field of communication.

For graduation, students must complete 27 units.

A postgraduate diploma may be awarded to those who have completed all the coursework and attained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or above with all courses scoring grade C- or above (excluding project), but have not completed a satisfactory project enrolled within the normal study period for reasons deemed acceptable by the Taught Postgraduate Programmes Management Committee.
