Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours)

Programme Director: Dr LAU, Peter T Y

The BBA (Hons) degree programme prepares students for careers as managers and business professionals. All students receive a foundation in business and general courses plus a specialization in one area of business through the choice from one of the seven Concentrations:

- Accounting Concentration
- Applied Economics Concentration
- Entrepreneurship Concentration
- Finance Concentration
- Human Resources Management Concentration
- Information Systems and e-Business Management Concentration
- Marketing Concentration

BBA students are required to take Required Courses (43 units, including a BBA Project) and Concentration Courses (21 units) that include the basics of business such as accounting, economics, management theory, quantitative and computer techniques, language and communication skills, and behavioural sciences. This is the largest component of the curriculum.

BBA students at HKBU must also complete University Core courses (13 units) and General Education courses (18 units). These give students an exposure to other fields such as English, Chinese, Healthy Lifestyle, History and Civilization, Quantitative Reasoning, and Values and the Meaning of Life. Students can make use of the elective courses to pursue the additional graduation options of a minor in non-business discipline or double concentration within BBA.

The BBA (Hons) degree programme is structured such that students begin with General Education and business foundation courses in Years 1 and 2, taking more advanced and more specialized courses as they move into Years 3 and 4.  In Year 4, students complete an Honours Project on a topic of their selected Concentration.

Double Degree Programme with Simon Fraser University

To nurture BBA students as all-rounded business talents with global mindset, a 2+2 double degree programme with Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Canada was established in 2018.  Highly aspiring students can apply for the programme during their Year 2 study in HKBU BBA.  Upon completion of the first two years of study at HKBU, students who are accepted to the programme will spend the final two years at SFU Beedie School of Business.  It is an exclusive opportunity for students to receive world-class education in two distinctive environments and be awarded two degrees in business from HKBU and SFU. For more details, please visit: http://bba.hkbu.edu.hk/eng/programmes/sfudoubledegree/index.jsp.
