Minor Programme in Communication

Students seeking to pursue the study of a minor programme would need to fulfil 15 units of courses specified by the offering department/programme, and note that no registration priority will be given to enrolment in minor courses. Upon completion of the 15 units required for the minor programmes, students should apply to the Academic Registry for approval.

The structure of the curriculum is as follows:

I) Required Courses 6 units
II) Elective Courses 9 units
    15 units

Requirements

I. Required Courses 6 units
  COMM1015 Introduction to Media and Communication 3 units
  COMM2026 Nonverbal Communication 3 units
     
II. Elective Courses 9 units
  At least one of the following courses*: 
  FILM2005 History of Cinema 3 units
  FILM2035 Fundamentals of Computer Graphics 3 units
  JOUR2077 Chinese News Reporting and Writing 3 units
  JOUR2085 English News Reporting and Writing 3 units
  PRAD2005 Introduction to Public Relations and Advertising 3 units
     
  At least one of the following courses**: 
  FILM3067 Creative Media Management 3 units
  JOUR3115 Media Management 3 units
  PRAD3015 Consumer Perspectives in Public Relations and Advertising 3 units
  PRAD4016 Strategic Issues and Crisis Management 3 units
    15 units

* Students can only choose either JOUR2077 Chinese News Reporting and Writing or JOUR2085 English News Reporting and Writing as an elective course under the Minor Programme in Communication.

** Students are required to take at least one 3-unit course at Level 3 or 4.
