Minor Programme in Applied Mathematics
Students seeking to pursue the study of a minor programme would need to fulfil 15 units of courses specified by the offering department/programme, with at least one course (3 units) at Level 3 or 4. Note that no registration priority will be given to enrolment in minor courses. Upon completion of the 15 units required for the minor programmes, students should apply to the Academic Registry for approval.
The structure of the curriculum is as follows:
|I)||Required Courses||6 units|
|II)||Elective Courses||6 units|
|III)||One 3-unit course starts with Letter Code MATH, excluding all non-letter grade courses MATH3095, MATH3096, MATH3097, MATH3495, MATH3496, MATH3497, MATH4998 and MATH4999||3 units|
|I.||Required Courses||6 units|
|MATH1005 Calculus I||3 units|
|MATH1006 Advanced Calculus I||3 units|
|MATH2207 Linear Algebra I||3 units|
|II.||Elective Courses||6 units|
|Two of the following courses:|
|MATH2225 Calculus II||3 units|
|MATH3205 Operations Research I||3 units|
|MATH3206 Scientific Computing I||3 units|
|MATH3405 Differential Equations I||3 units|
|III.||One 3-unit course starts with Letter Code MATH, excluding all non-letter grade courses MATH3095, MATH3096, MATH3097, MATH3495, MATH3496, MATH3497, MATH4998 and MATH4999||3 units|
(1) No courses may be double counted between a major and a minor programme. In such cases, required course(s) can be replaced with elective course(s) to fulfil the unit requirement for this programme.
(2) Students of Faculty of Science are not allowed to use MATH1025 to fulfil the Minor requirement. They are required to take another elective course.
