This course is a capstone field experience designed to integrate and apply geographical theory, methodologies, and skills to complex real-world environments. The primary aims are to develop advanced competencies in field research design, data collection (both physical and human), empirical analysis, and ethical field practice; foster a sophisticated synthesis of the physical and human geographical systems within a chosen region of China, East Asia, or Southeast Asia; develop critical problem-solving skills by having students design and execute a small scale, focused research project from inception to communication; and prepare students for advanced independent research, including their Honours Projects, by simulating the full research cycle in a demanding field setting.
