This course will provide a comprehensive understanding of blockchain technology and its applications in cryptocurrency, Web3 and other digital assets to provide the foundation for journalists reporting on this rapidly evolving industry. From the early days of Bitcoin and Ethereum to NFTs, decentralized platforms and emerging digital asset ecosystems, students will learn how to report on the technologies, companies, communities and individuals shaping the space. Students will develop the knowledge and reporting skills needed to critically cover blockchain, cryptocurrency and Web3 developments, deepen public understanding and hold companies and individuals accountable. The course will also explore how digital assets and decentralized technologies are reshaping finance, technology and online communities.
