This course builds on JOUR7060 News & Feature Writing for International Practice to develop advanced reporting and writing skills for international practice. Students will produce more complex and in-depth news and feature stories, with a focus on reporting developing stories under time pressure, understanding beat reporting and producing explainers. The course strengthens advanced newsgathering techniques, while developing the ability to provide clear context on complex issues. Through reporting practice and analysis of professional journalism, students will produce accurate, well-structured and responsible journalism for international audiences. Students will also engage in critical analysis and discussions of ongoing current events over the semester.
