The purpose of Chinese Medicinal Formulae is to teach the students, through classic teaching and discussion to deliver: (1) the therapeutic principals and formulation strategy of Chinese Medicine prescription; (2) the composition, function and indications of formula; (3) the strategies and methods of formulating a formula; and (4) how these formulas in the clinical practice are used. The formulae in the list of Guideline of Hong Kong Chinese medicine practitioner Registration Examination will be referred as the key component in this course.

Remark: In addition to the stated medium of instruction, Cantonese would be used for supplementing and facilitating teaching and learning as appropriate.  

方劑是在辨證審因﹑確定治法後，遵循組方原則，選擇適宜的藥物，明確用量，酌定劑型﹑用法而成的藥物配伍組合。方劑學是研究治法與方劑組成原理﹑配伍規律（特點）及其臨證運用的一門學科。

本課程目的是通過對一定數量基礎方﹑代表方及常用方的研習，掌握各方的組成﹑用量﹑用法﹑主治﹑功用﹑配伍及常用加減，引導同學掌握組方原理與配伍法則，培養同學分析﹑運用方劑，以及據病機求「變」組方的能力。
