This course is designed for students who have completed Advanced Cantonese I or with equivalent competence in Cantonese. In addition to more intensive training in more advanced Cantonese listening and speaking skills, the course will cover a wider range of topics on Cantonese culture such as Hong Kong traditional festival activities, Cantonese films and opera, herbal tea, pawnbroking, superstition and Feng Shui, etc. in order to enhance students' understanding of Hong Kong society and culture. By the end of the course, students will have a broadened Cantonese knowledge base with both traditional and modem perspectives, know more Cantonese slangs and colloquial sayings, engage in complex Cantonese discussions with fluency and give well-structured speeches and presentations on topics related to Cantonese culture and living, past and present, in Hong Kong.
