VART2535 Glass Blowing: Vessels is a foundation course in the art of glass blowing. This course is designed to allow students to expand their knowledge of glass blowing techniques and to explore the characteristics of hot glass blowing in a visual arts context.
This course provides illustrations and practical experiences in hot glass blowing in its various forms and applications, develops students’ critical understanding of the characteristics of blown glass, and to leads to the expression of creative concepts through molten glass in the transformation of liquid glass to vessel forms.
Through exposure of the fundamental glass blowing techniques, students will become acquainted with the potential of the glass blowing process from a bubble to a sphere, cone, cylinder, then to a tumbler, vessel, bowl and plate.
