Although traditional drawing is still fundamental in visualising initial concepts and ideas, the growing demand for images for both online and offline platforms have seen computer applications to become an essential tool for digital artist and illustrators. With the advancement of input devices such as the drawing tablet and handheld computer, the transition of the creative process from analogue to digital has become seamless; the potential to create hybrid images with both traditional and digital tools is finally unlocked.
VART2495 Digital Tools: Graphics Software is an introductory course that focuses on software to create digital images. It aims to equip the students with basic knowledge about digital drawing/imaging and the skills to master popular software such as Adobe CC, Clip Studio Paint, Sketchbook etc.
Fluency in these applications will require further practice beyond the course’s duration; this course intends to lower the access thresholds, familiarise the students with principal functions and features, and point towards solution strategies when using these programmes.
