SOWK7750 Social Work with Disadvantaged Groups (3 units)

This course aims to enable students to examine the social structure and social processes which contribute to the construction of disadvantages and oppression in the society, critically appreciate different theoretical explanation of social inequalities and disadvantages, develop understanding of the experiences of selected legislation, and develop sensitivity to and understanding of anti-oppressive practice with the socially disadvantaged groups aimed at promoting psychological well-being and strengthening social support.
