Discussions on love and human sexuality continue to evolve in contemporary society. This course introduces key theoretical concepts and contemporary debates related to love, intimacy, and human sexuality. It critically examines common myths and social discourses surrounding human sexuality while enhancing students’ awareness of the diversity, complexity, and range of sexual expression. The course also promotes sensitivity to equity and equality in diverse societies, with attention to the experiences and challenges faced by sexual minorities, including intimate partner violence, marriage-related issues, and social marginalization. Public health concerns, such as sexually transmitted infections and sexual risk behaviours will also be discussed. Through social and psychological perspectives supported by current scientific research, students will reflect on the developmental, relational, and social dimensions of human sexuality.
