This course introduces students to the psychological foundations of positive living, with a focus on how individuals understand themselves, develop strengths, and enhance well-being. It covers basic concepts in psychology, including behaviour, cognition, emotion, learning, motivation, personality, and human functioning, while connecting these areas to the study of positive psychology. Key topics include positive emotions, resilience, hope, creativity, meaning, character strengths, self-compassion, interpersonal relationships, and overall well-being. The course examines how psychological knowledge can support individuals in coping with challenges, flourishing in daily life, and contributing positively to families, communities, and society. Students will be encouraged to apply concepts of positive living to personal development, social relationships, and human service contexts, with attention to evidence-based strategies that promote mental health, growth, and a meaningful life.
