(1) To introduce students to classical and contemporary theories and approaches in the sociology of education

(2) To acquaint students with how core social institutions, such as the family, schools, and educational systems, structureeducational processes and shape life chances.

(3) To develop students’ ability to critically analyse and interpret empirical research on educational issues using sociologicalframeworks.
