The course will pedagogical content knowledge which help students develop a sociological understanding of Hong Kong society, as meaningful activities involving differently situated actors and embedded in processes of different scales. Social, political and cultural processes will be examined to show how they transform possibilities of life and give rise to issues of public concerns in Hong Kong, especially in comparison with other countries. The aim is not to overwhelm students with facts and figures about every aspect of Hong Kong, but to help students understand Hong Kong society in sociologically informed and comparative perspectives.
