This course is designed as an introduction to basic research methods applicable to physical education and recreation. Knowledge acquired in this course will assist students in developing skills necessary in conducting physical education, and recreation, physical activity, health and well-being research. The course aims to (1) help students’ understanding of the processes and ethical issues, and responsible research practice; (2) aid students’ understanding the designs and procedures of quantitative and qualitative research methods; (3) enhance students’ application and interpretation of data analytical skills; and (4) help students developing a research proposal. Through research literacy, ethical awareness, evidence-based inquiry and academic development, the course supports students’ learning outcomes in higher education.
