MFOM7010 Family Offices Practicum (3 units)

This course aims to provide opportunities for students to obtain real-life working experience, global exposure, or applied research skills relating to various business activities in family offices and related organizations. To accommodate diverse career aspirations, students may choose one of three practicum options:
Option A – Internship (Inside/Outside HK):
Working as interns under the guidance of both faculty and workplace supervisors, students will complete 4 hours of lecture and a work assignment of no less than 96 hours, paid or unpaid, depending on the prior agreement with the sponsor organizations.
Option B – Field Study (Outside HK):
Participating in an organized field study programme outside Hong Kong, students will engage in 4 hours of preparatory lectures and 96 hours of field visits, cultural immersion, and analytical work to observe and analyze global family office practices.
Option C – Practical Research Essay:
Conducting an independent, in-depth applied research project on a contemporary issue in family office management, students will complete 4 hours of methodology and consultation sessions and 96 hours of independent research and writing under faculty supervision.
Students must obtain prior approval from the Course Coordinator before registering for any Options. For the Internship option (Option A), students must also attend interviews with both the sponsor organizations and the Course Coordinator.
