This course aims to help students develop a translational medicine perspective; strengthen their abilities in evidence interpretation, ethics and compliance, drug safety awareness, and interdisciplinary communication; and lay a foundation for future participation in clinical drug trials, involvement in clinical decision-making, and collaboration with industry. By outlining the key stages in the development of innovative medicines—from target discovery and preclinical research to clinical trials and real world evidence—the course equips students with the foundational knowledge required for clinical translation. By explaining the industry landscape and representative cases, it familiarizes students with the essentials of global regulation and policy. The course also encourages students to consider the clinical value of new drugs and the pathways for industry-academia-research collaboration.
