This course examines ethical challenges and governance frameworks for responsible AI development and deployment. As AI systems increasingly influence decisions in healthcare, finance, justice, and employment, aligning these technologies with human values becomes essential. Students will explore ethical principles, regulatory approaches, and practical governance mechanisms to ensure AI systems are trustworthy, fair, and accountable.
- Examine ethical principles in AI including fairness, transparency, accountability, and their application to machine learning and automated decision-making systems.
- Analyze AI governance frameworks and regulatory approaches including the EU AI Act, national policies, and industry standards for responsible AI development.
- Develop risk assessment methods for identifying and mitigating ethical risks including algorithmic bias, privacy, and unintended consequences in AI systems.
