ITEC4005 Practicum for Health and Social Innovation (3 units)

This practicum course provides students with a hands-on opportunity to apply technological knowledge and skills to address real-world challenges in health and social innovation. Working in groups, students will use design thinking methods as a core framework to identify problems, design and implement tech-based solutions, build prototypes, deploy them in authentic setungs, and evaluate their impact. The course emphasizes human-centered design, interdisciplinary collaboration, ethical considerations, and reflective practice, bridging technical expertise with social, cultural, and economic factors. By the end, students will have developed practical skills in empathetic research, ideation, prototyping, testing, and iteration while contributing to meaningful societal change.
