HSWB3015 Research Methods in Health and Social Well-being (3 units)
Students in health and social-wellness programmes need a strong foundation in research to understand evidence-based practice and to conduct independent projects. This course provides the conceptual knowledge and practical skills needed to plan, design, analyze, and present a simple quantitative research study. It also strengthens students’ ability to locate scientific literature, use research databases, and apply statistical software for basic data analysis.
This course introduces students to the basic principles and practices of quantitative research methods relevant to health and social-wellness disciplines. It emphasizes the research process from problem identification and literature search to research design, sampling, validity and reliability, data collection, statistical analysis, and research report writing. The course is designed to support students in preparing for a final year project or equivalent capstone study.
