GEST2027 Fundamentals of Power Electronics (3 units)

This course provides students with basic concepts of power electronic circuits. Foundation concepts in both DC and AC circuit analysis will be introduced. Next, the behaviours and applications of solid-state electronic devices, including diodes and transistors will be examined. The applications of power electronic circuits will be demonstrated in order to build a foundation upon which further work in electronics and instrumentation are based, such as sensors, IoT devices and robotics.
