The course introduces and examines key concepts and approaches in economic geography and their contribution to the understanding of the contemporary globalizing world.  It highlights the importance of economic geography in the contemporary world, in analysing the spatial organisation of economic activities, production and consumption, and uneven development in the context of economic globalisation, with particular reference to inclusive and sustainable economic growth and decent work. It employs economic geography approaches to economic and social issues such as regional inequality, global production networks and shifting economic centres of gravity, and introduces major policy dilemmas related to sustainable industrialisation, innovation, and infrastructure.
