GEOG3017 Global Environment Issues and Sustainability (3 units)
- Medium of Instruction:
- English
This course provides a science-based framework for analyzing critical environmental challenges and sustainability principles at both local (Hong Kong) and global scales. The core of the curriculum is structured around three major environmental themes as guided by the UN’s three interconnected planetary crises, Climate Change, Pollution & Waste, and Biodiversity Loss. Bridging theory with actionable skills, students will engage in hands-on data analysis to evaluate environmental trends (such as climate data and air quality indices). Learning extends beyond the classroom through experiential fieldwork, where students will directly measure air, water, and noise pollution, and produce assessment reports.
