The aim of this course of study is to provide a wide-ranging survey of the regional development of Pacific Asia, highlighting regional integration, sustainable development, and inclusive growth in a rapidly changing geopolitical environment. In particular, China, Japan, and the ASEAN states from Pacific Asia are the key players in the Asia-Pacific. The objectives of the course are to examine the historical, cultural, socioeconomic, and geopolitical characteristics of the region as well as emerging issues such as regional cooperation, conflict, and governance; It is also expected that at the end of the course students will have developed a broad-based knowledge of the power relations among key players in the region and their implications for regional and global partnerships.
