This course will (1) familiarize students with the variety of inter-disciplinary perspectives on bilingualism and bilingual education; (2) expose students to major concepts and theories concerning bilingualism and bilingual education; and (3) enable students to apply the concepts and theories introduced to the analysis of important issues in the Hong Kong situation. The course is especially relevant to teacher education, equipping future educators with a strong foundation in bilingualism for the classroom context.
