BUSI2035 Entrepreneurship and Innovative Thinking (3 units)
- Medium of Instruction:
- English
This is an applied, future-oriented course that develops students' capacity to identify real-world problems and transform them into viable, innovation-driven business opportunities. It is particularly relevant for students who wish to differentiate themselves in a rapidly changing, AI-enabled economy by building practical entrepreneurial skills and an adaptive, opportunity-focused mindset.
The course introduces the entrepreneurial process from opportunity recognition to venture creation, emphasising how new products, services, business models, and technologies are conceived, tested, and brought to market. It also highlights how entrepreneurial thinking can be exercised both in start-ups and within established organisations undergoing transformation.
Students will engage in problem-based and team-based activities that require them to analyse customer needs, design value propositions, and articulate the key resources and actions needed to implement innovative ideas. Through these learning experiences, they will practice thinking critically and creatively under uncertainty, and develop action-oriented plans grounded in market and stakeholder insights.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to define entrepreneurship, describe how new ventures are created and launched, and explain the main components of the entrepreneurial process. They will also be able to evaluate the attractiveness of business opportunities, outline feasible implementation pathways, and apply entrepreneurial thinking in diverse professional contexts.
