Courses
BIOL3025 Plant Physiology (3 units)
- Prerequisite:
- Biology major Year 3/4 standing
- Medium of Instruction:
- English
This course aims to provide students with an integrated view of major plant physiological processes, explicitly connecting fundamental science to the challenges of modern agricultural production. We will study plant cell structure and its relationship with water, plant metabolism, plant-environment interactions, and plant growth and development to explore how they directly influence crop performance and resilience. By the end of this course, students
are expected to use physiological principles to explain how plants and crops can be managed and improved to maximize yield and withstand natural and agricultural environmental stresses, including heat, drought and cold as well as biotic stress.
