This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the frameworks and strategies that shape the arts and cultural sectors, which contributes to sustainable cities and urban development. It seeks to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to analyse and develop cultural policies, promote cultural initiatives, and effectively protect cultural heritage, thereby fostering cultural development, economic growth and supporting decent work within the creative economy. The objectives include exploring the historical and contemporary contexts of cultural policy, examining the roles of various stakeholders in the arts ecosystem in promoting inclusive governance and accountable institutions, and understanding the impact of policy decisions on cultural production and consumption. Additionally, the course aims to foster critical thinking and practical skills in arts administration, enabling students to navigate and influence the ever-evolving landscape of cultural policy and art promotion.
