The Internet is perhaps the most important channel of our media- based communication. Designers and artists need to have special creative and technical skills to develop online experiences. The purpose of this course is to give an introduction to the Internet as an artistic medium and provide a foundation of historical, cultural and technical knowledge related to enable artistic expression and visual communication in the Internet platform.
Students will acquire knowledge of the history and development of Internet and World Wide Web in the context of contemporary art and design. The course will also introduce the basic skills of web page composition, navigation design, together with rich media content and content management systems. Students will be able to author and produce a small-scale website using editing tools available in the professional design industries.
