This course is designed for students who wish to articulate creative concepts and processes through a variety of drawing techniques in experimental mark making and collage and on location drawing.
Students will focus on employing traditional drawing materials including charcoal and ink and more unconventional materials to extend their perceptual and expressive means. Additionally, students will be equipped with the skill to purposefully select and edit images to convey their ideas through collage.
On location drawing will focus on how to express, visualise and translate emotions through drawing while learning to articulate and integrate mental states into their subject matter through visual depiction of landscapes. Students will spend time visiting and drawing at different urban and non-urban locations, thus develop their skills by working with line, contour, shape, gesture, perspective, and tonal studies.
Through drawing and collage assignments, class presentations, discussions and critiques, students will begin to develop their own drawing language, strengthening their observation, compositional and overall drawing skills.
