TRAN2046 Translation and Technology I (3 units)
This course introduces students to the foundational concepts and trends at the intersection of translation and technology. It explores foundational concepts, in relation to both translation and interpreting, that will serve as the basis to properly interact with technology at the theoretical and practical levels later on. It also discusses how advancements in artificial intelligence, natural language processing (NLP), and cloud-based technologies are transforming the translation industry. Students will critically and ethically evaluate the impact of technology on translation practices and gain a conceptual understanding of translation technologies.
