This course aims to offer new students enroll in specific programmes* a broad understanding about the nature, basic principles, methodologies, and developments of social sciences. The major research and teaching areas in the disciplines of social sciences will also be introduced. The course includes three major parts: (1) What is social science? (2) How to conduct social science research? and (3) Social Sciences at HKBU. A Library Instruction Session offered by the HKBU Library is incorporated into the course.
