Understanding norms and deviance is central to the discipline of sociology. In this course, the students will be introduced to different approaches and theories about the causes and nature of deviant and criminal behaviours. The course will cover a wide range of topics, including the definition and measurement of crime and deviance, macro- and micro-level explanations of deviant behaviours, and societal responses to deviance and crime.
