Courses
PERM4027 Advanced Exercise Physiology (3 units)
The course aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of how the body responds to the physiological stresses of exercising in both clinical and extreme environmental contexts. Furthermore, the course aims to prepare students for careers in clinical exercise physiology and applied environmental physiology, by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to assess and prescribe exercise in these contexts. Objectives include student’s ability to provide practical recommendations for mitigating strain against various environmental and pathological stressors. A key objective is also developing essential laboratory skills through hands-on experiences, that allow students to apply theoretical concepts in practical settings, much of which will occur in a state-of-the-art environmental chamber. Finally, the course emphasises industry-relevant experiences, preparing students with contemporary skills for careers in clinical exercise physiology and applied environmental physiology.
