This course aims to explore innovative publishing models and digital platforms, focusing on crowdsourced publishing, print-on-demand services, and subscription-based models. Students will investigate emerging trends such as crowdfunding for publishing projects, cross-platform publishing, and personalised content delivery through digital literary magazines and collaborative writing platforms. Through in-depth case studies, students will examine how new platforms and technologies are revolutionising content creation, distribution, and consumption.
Furthermore, students will explore essential concepts in transmedia management, emphasising the characteristics of narratives that extend across multiple platforms and the significance of audience engagement. The course will also address interactive storytelling techniques and the influence of gamification on reader experiences. Enhanced reader engagement will be highlighted through innovative technologies and design strategies. Additionally, students will learn techniques for developing interactive media publishing projects. This foundational knowledge will empower them to conceptualise and create their own publishing projects, integrating the emerging media elements discussed throughout the course.
