This course introduces students to the technical aspects of photography alongside the components that make up compelling images, such as composition, lighting, and subject matter. Through hands-on shooting and in-class editing using digital software, students will learn new techniques for portraiture, visual storytelling, and develop their own style and aesthetic as they produce narrative work. Students will also undertake a historical and ethical study on photography, learning about old and emerging concepts and developing analytical skills and critical approaches to improving their work and that of their peers.
