This course explores the evolution of psychology, examining the historical contexts, pivotal movements, influential theories, and the evolving scientific methods that have shaped the discipline into what it is today. This course also aim to foster a spirit of inquiry, empowering students to become active participants in the ongoing dialogue that defines the discipline of psychology.
Students will gain knowledge in understanding the development and controversies in various subfields of psychology. Students are expected to critically critique and respond to various perspectives on key issues and themes of the subdisciplines. By the end of the course, students will have gained a comprehensive understanding of psychology's past, as well as a keen awareness of the ethical, social, scientific and philosophical debates that continue to shape its future.
