This course provides a comprehensive introduction to individual differences in personality by examining theories, research, measurements, and practical applications in daily life. Students will survey and critically evaluate major theoretical approaches to understanding personality, while exploring key issues such as personality development, dynamics, and assessment.
Through an examination of relevant research supporting or refuting theoretical formulations, students will gain an appreciation for the contributions and limitations of each personality paradigm. By the end of the course, students will have gained understanding of the complex interplay between genetic predispositions, contextual factors, and personal experiences in shaping personality, empowering them to apply this knowledge to real-world issues.
