CRIN3006 Artiste Management (3 units)

Artiste managers are the key persons of all entertainment business. They are agents of revenue streams, power, and fame that not only serve to gate-keep commercial value of artiste but also possibly catalyse industry change. This course aims to introduce to students the fundamentals of artiste management and its many different functions. It offers an exploration of the processes and activities related to managing artistes. It also surveys approaches and principles of artistes’ career plan, money management, brand and image building, and
developing a management team. The categories of artistes identified for inquiry include musicians, actors, and all-round performing talents. By examining and reviewing a number of cases of artiste management in and beyond Hong Kong, students can scrutinise pertinent issues and debates in the contemporary entertainment industry. Upon successful completion of this course, students will acquire an informed understanding of the operating duties and dynamics for managing an artiste and will gain an insight for contemplating the possibility of developing an aspiring career in artiste management.
