CMED3005 Principle and Practice of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Chinese Medicine (3 units)
In recent years, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), with its systematic theories and clinical medical system, has gradually attracted global attention. The core concepts of TCM, such as holistic examination and individualised treatment, have gained recognition not only at the primary healthcare level but also in the field of medical science. Its diverse therapeutic methods are widely applied beyond medical treatment, including areas like medical science and sports science. The development in these fields relies on interdisciplinary talents, and a foundational understanding of TCM is essential to further explore and realise its diagnostic and therapeutic potential.
In response to this development, the course aims to teach the diagnostic theories and commonly used treatment methods of orthopedics and traumatology. The course emphasises the use of non-invasive treatment methods focusing common diseases. By integrating modem medical knowledge and scientific approaches, the goal is to enable students such as Sports Science to understand the diagnostic and therapeutic systems of TCM. This will prepare them for future involvement in public health services or interdisciplinary research, thereby laying a solid foundation for their careers.
