CMED1046 Fundamental Theories of Chinese Medicine (3 units)
With increasing interest in and usage of traditional, complementary and integrative medicine (TCIM) worldwide, it is recognised that education is a key to promote safe and effective use of TCIM. This course aims to serve as an education for achieving the above goals in bridging western science and Chinese Medicine.
This course aims to systematically introduce fundamental theories of CM, fundamental knowledge in CM diagnosis and basic practicing skills, common differentiation of syndromes. In addition, it will also briefly introduce the philosophical thoughts, traditional concepts of CM.
We aim to fortify integrative healthcare practice with proper understanding of Chinese Medicine by promoting awareness on diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. As a secondary aim, this course serves an introduction to TCM, such that students from Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (e.g. Sports Science, Physical Education) to gain basic understanding on Chinese Medicine (CM), preparing them for future interprofessional learning and practice of integrative healthcare.
